Started of fine,then 5 months later.Won’t show up in file explorer. But does in disk-management,can’t assign a letter. Will not open , I’ve trouble shooted every possibility. Was never dropped or moved. I build my own computers,in 15 years of building. Never had a drive failed on me 1 under 3 years. Average 5-7 years not because of failure ,because I upgrade . Does anyone knows if Seagate One Touch is reliable. Or any suggestions for a 5 Terabyte HDD ? Update I gave it one more try.Worked flawlessly did nothing differently just weird.

Wanted to use the drive for all the photos on my Mac laptop. Couldn’t figure out how to do that. So used it as a backup drive. Seems to work fine for that. Will try to repurpose my othe backup drive for Photos.

Ample capacity as a Time Machine backup
Wanted to move away from the slow nature of a NAS drive Time Machine back up for my Mac. The small footprint means it’s not in the way on my desk and it’s much faster. I regretted not having something similar for when my previous iMac fell over and I wasn’t able to restore from a back up that was no more than an hour old.The Amazon price for 4tb was cheaper than my company hardware supplier who couldn’t match the price even at 2TB. This was formatted and ready for a Mac but others we have used in my company came with windows formatting and a WD app for security/conversion. After trying to see if there was any value in using it for a MAC, I ended up wiping them and reformatted for our Mac devices. Far simpler – but wasn’t necessary for this 4TB one I bought.In the end, it just sits there, doing the regular backups. Being directly attached via USB-C (it comes with a converter to the older standard) it seems very quick to load up when I took a look at the backups.Very happy.

It is very quiet, plugged it in, and my Mac laptop did some prep to get it ready for backups, and then it started its first backup. The first one took quite a while as it was about 500GB, but the second one was much quicker. I would probably not want to use this to drag and drop large files to/from due to the speed issue. Since it is so small, I am assuming that it is basically a physical laptop style drive inside. But the price is great for this large capacity. Hopefully SSD’s will come down in price in the near future. Oh, and the cable is very short that comes with it, but oh well..

I love Western Digital, because I always get my bang for the buck whenever I purchase any product from this company.I usually use Western Digital to save my music and school reports, along with an occasional MKV file that I ripped from various Blu-ray discs and DVDs that I bought here on Amazon. Being portable, I can keep this external drive in my school backpack, without any issues whatsoever.I’ll probably need to get another Western Digital external drive in another few weeks, but I’ll do it without any complaint.
