Blue Angels Pensacola Florida by Gorila Travel

The Blue Angels is the United States Navy’s flight demonstration squadron. The squadron was created in 1946, making it one of the oldest performing U.S. military aviation demonstration teams.

The Blue Angels are stationed at Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola, Florida, and they conduct their practice demonstrations over Pensacola Bay. The team performs airshows throughout the United States and the world to highlight the skill and professionalism of the United States Navy and Marine Corps.

The Blue Angels pilots fly McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornets (as of my last update in September 2021) in a tightly choreographed, high-energy demonstration that includes formation flying and solo routines. The team consists of six demonstration pilots who perform aerial maneuvers, a narrator, a maintenance, and support team, and “Fat Albert,” a C-130 Hercules aircraft that provides logistical support for the team and participates in the air shows.

The Blue Angels’ air shows are a symbol of pride and precision, demonstrating the skill and dedication of the Navy’s aviators. They’re also a significant tool for military recruitment and public relations.

While in Pensacola, the Blue Angels often hold practices that are open to the public at the National Naval Aviation Museum. Visitors can watch the team’s intense precision flying up close, which is quite a unique experience.
